The time I thought Redbus gave me a free ticket!

Hello guys, how're you all? It's been a while since I posted here and I want to tell you that you will get updates here on this blog but not much often. Whatever I post here will be something related to myself so I preferred to keep this as a separate blog! So if you're reading this, then you probably are quite following me as this blog is known by quite few people. So, here goes...

I wanted to share this incident 'coz I felt I was getting a free ride, but in fact I was paying it myself! It was a funny incident. You must be knowing that I currently live in Chennai and you know what happened in Chennai recently... Yes, the floods! It was a tough week for all of us living here in Chennai, and luckily, my rommie Sharma and I managed to move out of Chennai with just Rs. 20 in hand and we reached Salem on Friday morning. I'll share the story of that soon. I had to return to Chennai on Tuesday morning since everything was getting back to normal, and I had to get back to work. While booking a ticket to Chennai for Monday night, I came across this offer in Redbus where it was mentioned that I could avail upto 75 rupees discount if I paid through PayU Money. 75 rupees was a big amount back at that time. I opted for Redbus 'coz all bookings for SETC where blocked (Maybe 'coz there were free rides). So I went ahead, and chose a bus and a seat and opted to Pay through PayU Money. Since I was doing this from my laptop, my PayU Money account was already logged in. I clicked on Proceed to Pay, and the next thing I see is, "Congratulations! Your ticket is booked!", without me entering any payment details. I was like Whaaaaat?! :P

I didn't care much about the confirmation since I had a ticket in my hand, although people advised me to confirm with the travels. I was a bit skeptical about it, so I tried booking another ticket with the same procedure, and what I saw was, "PayU Money Wallet balance : Rs. 625 | Issued by RBL" (Cost of the ticket!). What I thought was some bank had tied up with PayU Money and Redbus to get free rides to and fro Chennai!

I had that thought until today, when I discovered that I still had the same balance in my account. I went through the transaction history to find out how that money was still in my account. There I found out that some transactions where declined by Redbus and so the money had stayed in my PayU Money wallet rather than getting transferred back to my bank account. I then realized that I should be extra careful while handling money online. Guys, you too be extra careful and make sure that your transactions get reversed to your bank and you don't lose money! :)

#LessonLearnt there, huhn? :)

Well, see you all again! :) Please share your thoughts in the comments below.. :) Ciao!!! :)
